Originally built during the Arab rule in the 9th century, it was expanded and transformed by the Normans in the 12th century into a grand royal palace. Today, it houses the Sicilian Regional Assembly and features the stunning <strong>Cappella Palatina<\/strong>, a chapel renowned for its breathtaking Byzantine mosaics, Arab arches, and Norman architecture\u2014a true masterpiece of multicultural influences.<br><br>The <b>Palazzo Sclafani<\/b> is a 14th-century palace built by Matteo Sclafani, a nobleman from a prominent Sicilian family. Initially constructed as a private residence, it later served various purposes, including a hospital. The palace is known for its elegant Gothic architecture and the famous fresco Triumph of Death, now housed in the Regional Gallery of Sicily.
