Map of Yelkouan Shearwater (Puffinus yelkouan) nesting sites, based on the latest available published record

Highly migratory marine organisms such as seabirds are increasingly impacted by global change.
Take for example the Yelkouan Shearwater, a threatened species known to migrate between the Mediterranean and the Black Sea. How to monitor its response to our rapidly changing environment unless we know its current distribution and migration routes? At the moment the Yelkouan Shearwater nesting sites are only partly mapped: note their absence in many regions of this map.

To signal our concern for the vulnerability of the seabirds compartment within the marine ecosystem, the Mediterranean Commission is launching a new initiative calling for your participation.

How can you help? By sending us ( documented evidence (e.g. overlooked scientific publication in any language, including Ph.D. theses) of Yelkouan Shearwater nesting sites in any of the zones signaled by a question mark on the map.
