Brief description of vessels and on board scientific equipment :
"Pelagia" is a vessel realized in 2013, with a length (at water line) of 12,00 m and (all considering) of 14,30 m. The maximum wideness is 3,70 m, the gross tonnage is 12,52 tons, and the net tonnage is 8,51 tons. Pelagia is able to host up to 12 personnel units, and it is authorized to seal within 12 NM from the coastline.
Scientific instrumentations, onboard, are represented by : ROV Sirio Observer class AGEOTEC, with arm and 2 camcorder hd, compressor for air bottle re-charge, model ALKIN W32 Mariner - 320 LT/MIN - 225 Bar - 7,5Kw 400V 50Hz, set up to host Side Scan Sonar Klein 3900, set up to host Multibeam system R2 Sonic 2022, neuston net (mouth 1,0 x 0,5 m, length 3,5 m), plankton net (WP2), niskin bottle, multuiparametric probe (0-50 m) IDROMAR, bottom dredge

* Compound Microscopes (two inverted), Stereoscopes, equipped with camera lucida and camcorder; a room equipped for Molecular Biology analysis, a room equipped for Microbiology analysis, 7 complete sets for scuba diving and a compressor device for nitrox. Two off-road vehicles; the Avamposto Mare; an equipped small Marine Biology Station at Tricase Porto (Otranto Channel) managed by the international Institution CIHEAM, who collaborates with Stazione-Museo di Biologia Marina; the Marine Biology Museum “Pietro Parenzan”; a small Museum (350 m2), located at Porto Cesareo (Gulf of Taranto), funded in 1966 and hosting about 10,000 visitors per year.
