* The Marine Organism Stress Simulator (MOSS) installed at MARE-Madeira, ARDITI, was designed to operate mostly based on cost-effective gravity. This MOSS infrastructure includes 6 pre-treated tanks (400 L) and 8 mesocosm units (500 L) and has the capacity to conduct several experiments simultaneously, such as thermal tolerance trials, stress ecology trials, or community-ecosystem ecology trials. MARE-Madeira also has a small sampling laboratory with several steremicroscopes and a variety of field and technical equipment including: multiple RPAS (multirotor and fixed wings) equipped with RGB and/or multispectral and/or infrared cameras (currently employed for habitat mapping and marine litter survey), a small ROV (for underwater surveys and inspections), SCUBA gear (for scientific diving activities) and multiple underwater sensors (e.g. light, temperature) with data logging capabilities. |
