SHORT DESCRIPTION
Carapace transversely subovate, globose, regions well demarcated, surface granulate, bearing tufts of setae. Front deflexed, bilobate. Anterolateral margin lamellate, cut into two subequal rounded lobes. Chelipeds massive, bearing conical granules. Ambulatory legs slender, dorsal and ventral margins with long plumose and serrate setae. G1 slender, sinuous, distally bent.

DISTRIBUTION
Worldwide : Red Sea and the east African coast as far south as Mozambique. Mediterranean : a single specimen was collected off Punta Ala, central Tyrrhenian coast, Italy in 1978 (Galil et al., 2006).
