SHORT DESCRIPTION
Carapace pubescent. Rostrum with 7-8 teeth, excluding epigastric, on upper margin. Cervical, hepatic, orbito-antennal grooves ill defined. Orbital, antennal, hepatic and pterygostomian spines well developed. Crest of third abdominal segment grooved. Telson with one pair of immovable spines and three pairs of movable spines. Basial spines on first, second walking legs, ischial spine on first walking leg only. Petasma asymmetrical. Thelycum with submedian teeth of transversal plate more prominent than lateral teeth.

color : body cream, irregularly mottled with orange-red. Uropods distally orange-red.

common size : (max.) CL 2 cm, TL 8.4 cm.

Metapenaeopsis mogiensis consobrina lacks stridulating ridge laterally near posterior margin of carapace.

Poorly known.

Israel, 1997 [1996].


DISTRIBUTION
Worldwide : Indo-West Pacific, Red Sea to Indonesia. Mediterranean : recorded first in Israel (Galil, 1997 [1996]). Subsequently recorded from Greece, Rhodes Isl. (Kevrekidis et al., 1998). Collected between 1996 and 2003, at depths between 3 and 26 m, off Kas Peninsula, off the southwestern coast of Turkey (Yokes and Galil, 2004). One specimen was collected in Banyas, Syria, in March 2006 (Hasan, pers. comm.).
