SHORT DESCRIPTION
Rostrum triangular, shorter than extra-orbital teeth, dorso-ventrally depressed. Carapace bearing three movable spines mid-dorsally. Eye stalk elongate, subcylindrical, setose, reaching beyond end of antennular peduncle. Abdominal pleura with rounded margins. Telson as long as sixth abdominal segment, two pairs of spinules distally on dorsal surface, small triangular projection midway on lateral margins. First pereopods smaller than second, feeble, symmetrical, with chela shorter than carpus. Second legs chelate, carpus four-segmented.

Eye-stalk elongate, nine times as long as diameter of cornea.

Poorly known.

sandy or muddy sand bottoms, 0-37 m.

DISTRIBUTION
Worldwide : Indo-West Pacific, Red Sea to Australia. Mediterranean : recorded first from Israel (Holthius and Gottlieb, 1958 [1947]). Recorded in Turkey, Iskenderun to Mersin (Özcan et al., 2008).

Common along the Israeli coast.
