the field station has 3 aquarium rooms, equipped with running seawater and air supply, 1 thermostatic room, outdoors tanks, 1 wet lab, 3 labs equipped with: stoves, paraffin dispenser, microtome, centrifuge, scales, microscopes, dissecting microscopes, image analysis system, sperm tracker. For field work, the station has tanks and air compressor.

Lagoon environment (the field station is located in the southern part of the Venetian Lagoon); artificial coastal hard substrates (jetties, low crested substrates), natural offshore rocky outcrops, sandy-muddy bottoms. Chioggia has one of the major fishing fleet of the Mediterranean Sea.

|
In Palazzo Grassi, a museum (Museum of Adriatic Zoology "G. Olivi") hosts the historical collection of Adriatic Fauna, consisting of 1258 specimens, representative of about 700 species. In the museum, 350 specimens are displayed. See web site.

The teaching activities include academic courses of the Master degree in Marine Biology and summer schools on Conservation genetics of marine organisms (2010 and 2011).

Capacity and brief description of library
|
|
|
The major library is in Palazzo Grassi, and has 105 books, including mainly marine biology, fisheries, ecotoxicology books, but also general biology ones. A small library, mainly including field guides and marine biology books, is present at the Hydrobiological Station, and includes 20 books.
