Current major projects
* cartography of demersal resources in Italian seas ;
* ecologic study of symbiont luminous bacteria of mesopelagic fish in the Straits of Messina ; * evaluation of demersal resources from Cape Suvero (Calabria) to Cape S. Vito (Sicily) ; * hydrodynamism of the Straits of Messina and influence on the trophic levels of the planktonic biocenosis ; * integrated study of the main trophic components in the water-sediment system ; * international bottom trawl survey in the Mediterranean (MEDITSIT) ; * comparison of fish-farming experimentation : breeding of Seriola dumerilii in different contained environments (tank - cage) ; * recent history of Mediterranean water masses analyzed through the determination of in-situ microbial activity ; * setting up of an integrated system comprising the management of data and monitoring by automatic systems of characteristic parameters of the marine environment
