				Carapace subquadrate; lateral margins diverging anteriorly, tridentate; antero-lateral angle prominent. Rostrum obsolete. Inner orbital margin bidentate. Antepenultimate antennal segment acutely pointed, with external margin deeply cut into two lobes, anterior margin with 3-4 irregular lobes; distal segment with anterior margin deeply cut into five lobes. Median carinae rugose, with pregastric and cardiac teeth; lateral carinae coarsely rugose. Anterior margin of thoracic sternum concave, last thoracic sternite bearing a prominent median spine. Abdominal segments 2-5 with obtuse median carina dorsally; posterior margin of segments 1-4 medially excavate. Second abdominal pleuron triangular, distal angle acutely pointed.

            DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS 
            
			 
            
			Differs from S. arctus and S. pygmaeus in lacking a prominent rostrum; from S. caparti in the thoracic sternum being evenly concave anterior margin, and in the prominent spine on last thoracic sternite.
