On 30 August, CIESM and ICES did formalize their growing collaboration by signing a Memorandum of Understanding which outlines priority areas for joint concertation and initiatives. The sectors explicitly covered include introduced species, operational oceanography, marine protected areas and biodiversity, economic valuation of marine ecosystems, communication among fishermen and fishery scientists, marine information technologies.
