Main sectors of research
|
|
|
* Living resources (e.g. fisheries, aquaculture)
* To conduct research on the diversity of marine life at all levels of biological organization as well as its interactions with the marine environment.
* The study of changes (both natural and anthropogenic) occurring in marine biodiversity.
* The structure, dynamics and genetic diversity of ecosystems, as well as their rational management.

Land-Based facilities
Indoor facilities: pilot scale rearing facilities; 28 broodstock tanks of 5 to 20 m3 each with regulated light and temperature regime; phytoplankton and zooplankton production rooms; larval rearing room, with 6 independent recirculated systems (each of 2 cylindroconical tanks of 500 litre with one biological filter of 1m3), 2 independent recirculated systems (each of 2 cylindroconical tanks of 2m3 with one biological filter of 2m3); 12 x 35 litre cylindroconical tanks with biological filters; experimental room with 38 x 500 litre cylindrical tanks
Outdoor facilities (Faros Field Station): 10 x 4 m3 experimental broodstock tanks with controlled photoperiod and thermoperiod; 4 x 10 m3 broodstock tanks with controlled photoperiod and thermoperiod; 6 x 5 m3 broodstock tanks with controlled photoperiod and thermoperiod; phytoplankton and zooplankton production facilities; 4 x 60 m3 and 6 x 40 m3 Mesocosms with controlled photoperiod and light intensity; 4 x 10 m3 cylindrical and 24 x 10 m3 sub-cubic weaning or pre-growing tanks; 24 x 2 m3 cylindrical and 18 x 0.5 m3 experimental tanks. There is also a weaning, nursery and pre-growing area (capacity 500.000 1 -2g fry) with 18 outdoor 10 m3 sub-square tanks and 24 tanks equipped with two types of water, from a well and from the sea.
